Abhishek Bhatia is the IDHN Data Science Fellow at the Mittal Institute, where his research spans across digital health, health data science, and disaster response.
His current work with Prof. Satchit Balsari and Prof. Caroline Buckee focuses on (1) assessing data readiness, methods readiness, and translational readiness for equitable and crisis planning and response, in the context of COVID-19 and the California Wildfires, (2) analyzing epidemiological and population-level data to assess the public health burden of war and disaster in the context of the floods in Kerala, India, and the Syrian Crisis, and (3) researching the combined application of task-shifting, training, and technology in primary care settings in India.
His past work includes researching the health needs of displaced Rohingya populations in Bangladesh, designing mHealth tools for chronic disease management in Mexico, and implementing community-based nutrition interventions for maternal and child health in South Asia and Latin America.
