In this role, he led web design and development projects and communications campaigns for the central marketing department, and for various research centers across the school. The research projects he was involved in focused on various topics, including the infrastructural gaps in broadband access across the United States, the national and global preparedness and response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the forecasted trajectory of digital innovation across the globe.

Joe has a vested interest in public health and its intersections with emerging technology, digitalization, and social policy. He is particularly interested in improving access to healthcare in underserved communities through novel digital health interventions.
