Research Scientist


Dr. Shenyue Jia is the Data Scientist at CrisisReady. She is also an Assistant Professor of Geography at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Her work lies at the convergence of wildfire ecology and geographical information sciences (GIS).


Shenyue Jia studies how satellite data and crowdsourced data can be applied to track the cascading effects of climate change in semi-arid and arid ecosystems and people who live in these areas. She is also interested in reimagining GIS education and equipping students with abilities to get their questions related to space answered with captivating maps and geospatial analytical methods beyond using traditional GIS software.

As an avid GIS specialist, Dr. Shenyue Jia serves as a consultant of mapping for TreePeople on their urban greenness restoration projects. She also teaches GIS classes at Chapman University for Environmental Science and Policy major.
